Install Shiori
Install it to open Shiori in its own window, with no browser chrome, straight to your shelf.

If the button below doesn't appear, open Chrome's menu (three dots) and look for "Add to Home screen" or "Install app" instead.
Safari doesn't offer a one-tap install. Tap the Share icon, then "Add to Home Screen".
Nothing showing up anywhere, not even "Add to Home screen" in your browser's menu? That's your phone or browser blocking app installs, not a problem with Shiori. It varies by device: try updating your browser, turning off Data Saver or Lite mode, or checking for a shortcut/autostart permission for it in your phone's app settings (common on Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo phones).
MyAnimeList Client ID
Needed to import from MAL. Register a free API client at myanimelist.net/apiconfig (App Type: other), then paste the Client ID here. It is stored only in this browser.
Backup & restore
Your library lives in this browser's IndexedDB. Export regularly - clearing browser data would erase it.
Automatic backups need the File System Access API, which this browser doesn't expose (Brave disables it by default - enable it in brave://flags, or use another Chromium browser). Manual export above works everywhere.
Updates
Automatically check your Reading shelf for new chapters about every 12 hours when the app opens, and notify you if it finds any. You can always check manually from the Updates page.
AniList sync
Push-only: sends your local status/progress/score/dates up to AniList for every series linked to it. Nothing here runs automatically - Shiori never writes to your AniList account unless you click Sync. Register a free app at anilist.co/settings/developer with redirect URL set to this page's URL.
Maintenance
Fix covers - tests every stored cover for dead links, then hunts across MangaDex, Anime-Planet, MangaKatana, WeebCentral, MangaFire, KaliScan, KingofShojo, MangaK, MangaFox, MadaraDex, ManhwaBuddy, Kagane and (last, VPN-dependent) Comick. Pornhwa tries ManhwaBuddy & MadaraDex first.
Re-classify types - refreshes AniList-known series (adult manhwa → Pornhwa, adult anime → Hentai) and applies adult-tag detection to local entries. Overwrites manual type changes on AniList-known series.
Source health
These scraper sites have no official API and can break silently when they change their markup. Pings each one with a near-universally carried title ("One Piece") - a red row means that source is likely down or its scraper needs fixing, not that a specific series is missing.
Duplicate finder
Finds entries with identical titles (usually a Mihon local copy next to its AniList version) and merges them - best progress wins, your rating, reviews, notes and list memberships all carry over.
Import cleanup
Finds entries that ended up in your regular Library from an older backup import, before these sources were excluded from import.
Doujins
nhentai / HentaiFox / HentaiEra / Hitomi entries - these belong in the Annex only.
Booru/clip videos
Rule34 and similar booru/clip aggregators - not real episodic anime, don't belong in the Library at all.
Mature content
Hentai and Pornhwa show up as vague "18+" tabs everywhere in the app by default, so a passing glance doesn't spell it out. Confirm you're 18 or older to show their real names instead.
This only changes labels. Opening that content still needs the Annex PIN below, same as before.
Annex
A PIN-gated shelf for doujins (nhentai favorites import, add-by-link for nhentai / HentaiFox / Hitomi). Hidden from the sidebar until set up; locks when the browser closes.
Danger zone
Wipe the entire local database. Reviews, notes and ratings included.
